How do you keep your staff safe when they’re working at heights?

Since Rifft Safety’s inception 12 months ago, we have quickly carved out a reputation for excellence by always pushing to provide value-added, tangible, and more importantly actionable solutions for our clients.

One such client, Maximum Wash Limited, needed robust, reliable products to safeguard their staff working at heights, all while adhering to New Zealand’s stringent regulatory standards.

The Challenge

When Maximum Wash Limited approached us, they were in a bind. They were looking to expand their operations to involve extensive work at elevated heights, where safety is paramount. The stakes were high, and they needed equipment that guaranteed their workers’ safety without compromising on efficiency. The solution had to be durable, easy to install, cost-effective, and compliant with the rigorous AS/NZS regulations.

The Solution

Rifft Safety stepped up to the challenge and provided a suite of products designed to meet and exceed these stringent requirements. The products included:

1. The LINQ Portable Anchorage Lifeline – 2 MAN

Picture a team working on the roof of a towering building, the wind whipping around them as they navigate their workload. They need something reliable, something they can trust with their lives. The LINQ portable anchorage lifeline became their lifeline in the truest sense. This temporary anchor line, designed for extreme workplace conditions, was lightweight yet robust, offering a 20m line with a ratchet tensioner that made setup and takedown a breeze.

Its compliance with AS/NZS1891.2 and EN 795:1996 Class B ensured that it met all safety standards, allowing them work in full confidence. As per the guidelines from Worksafe, when you are working at heights you must always consider the use of work positioning systems or travel restraint systems, safety harnesses, industrial rope access systems and soft landing systems.

2. The LINQ Anchor Tetha V-Bar Temporary Anchor Plates

Having the portable anchorage lifeline on its own is not enough as the rooftops of industrial buildings can be treacherous. With our LINQ Anchor Tetha V-Bar temporary anchor plates, we provided Maximum Wash Limited with a solution that combined strength with simplicity.

These anchors, with a minimum breaking strength of 15kN, were more than capable of handling the harshest conditions and the heaviest of employees (up to 140kg). Their compact, lightweight design made them easy to transport and install, reducing the admin required to set everything up. These anchors ensured a secure working environment.

3. Traffic Cone Extension Bar 135CM TO 210CM

Visibility and demarcation are critical on busy work sites. When working at heights, WorkSafe recommends erecting a gantry or a protective screen over high-volume/public areas and to fence off lower areas where possible.

The extendable traffic cone bar, made from UV-stabilized ABS plastic, provided a flexible and durable solution. Starting at 135cm and extending to 210cm, it featured a simple twist lock system and four yellow reflective bands for added visibility. This bar ensured that work areas were clearly marked, which helps to minimise risk. Especially when you are working at heights

4. PROSENSE C5 Cut Level D Gloves

Additionally, ensuring that workers’ hands were protected without sacrificing dexterity was crucial. The Prosense gloves, with their excellent cut resistance and comfortable fit, allowed workers to perform their tasks efficiently while keeping their hands safe. The 13-gauge EN388:2016 Cut Level D seamless liner and grey PU dip ensured that these gloves were both protective and comfortable for all-day wear.

3. First Aid Kit – Medium Sports (Soft Pack)

Lastly, safety isn’t just about preventing falls; it’s also about being prepared for any possible scenario. This kit, packed with crucial first aid supplies, was easy to carry and access, ensuring that immediate medical assistance was always at hand. When you’re on the work site, it’s good to know that all your safety-bases are covered.

Conclusion

Our partnership with Maximum Wash Limited highlights Rifft Safety’s commitment to providing top-tier safety solutions that comply with New Zealand’s rigorous standards. Through a combination of stringent research, testing, and an unwavering focus on practical application, we have ensured that our clients can carry out their tasks with confidence and security.

At Rifft Safety, we don’t just meet standards; we set new ones. The products we supply are a testament to our dedication to protecting those who work in some of the most challenging environments.
